When Our Lady appeared to the poor peasant Diego, she asked him to take her message to the bishop. When the bishop was skeptical, Our Lady had Diego collect roses growing on Tepeyac hill with roses not known to grow in Mexico and from the homeland of the bishop. When Diego went back to see the bishop, the roses he had collected fell from his apron and an image of our lady, known now as Our Lady of Guadalupe, appeared on the cloth.
